2. Sales of electric vehicles increased by 25% in 6 months: A total of 8 lakh vehicles were sold, e-cars increased by only 1.3%

Sales of electric vehicles (EV) increased by 25% year-on-year in September. Total EV registrations (including all segments) stood at 1.49 lakh. In September last year, 1.19 lakh EVs were registered. This year this figure was 1.47 lakh. A growth of 19% was recorded in the first half (April-September) of the current financial year. A total of 8.37 lakh EVs were registered during this period.
Last year, 7.02 lakh vehicles were registered in the same period. According to the vehicle portal, sales of electric passenger vehicles (cars and SUVs) in the first half of the current financial year stood at 43,120 units. Last year, 42,550 e-passenger vehicles were sold in the same period. Sales in the first quarter increased by 8.6% to 22,749 units. Sales declined 6% to 20,141 units in the second quarter.

The government on Tuesday appointed three new external members to the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), including Ram Singh, Saugata Bhattacharya and Nagesh Kumar. The MPC has 6 members, three of whom are central bank Governor Shaktikanta Das, Deputy Governor Michael Patra and Executive Director Rajeev Ranj.
Whereas, three external members are appointed by the Central Government for four years. Currently, the external members of the MPC are Professor Ashima Goyal, Professor Jayant Verma and New Delhi senior advisor Shashank Bhide. His tenure is ending this week.
