There is a tradition of Muhurta trading on the occasion of Diwali in the Indian stock market. Although there is a holiday on this day on the stock exchange, but even on holiday, it is specially opened for just one hour, which is called Muhurta trading. However, this time the Muhurta trading will be held on 21 October in the afternoon instead of the evening.
That is, on this occasion, a special Muhurta trading session will be organized on stock exchange BSE and NSE from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm. The 15-minute pre-opening session on Muhurta trading will be from 1:30 pm to 1:45 pm.
BSE-NSE issued a circular today
Muhurta trading time slots will also trading trading in several segments like equity, commodity derivatives, currency derivatives, equity futures and options and securities lending and boring (SLB). BSE-NSE issued a circular on 22 September and announced this.
The market opens from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm in the normal days from Monday to Friday. Pre -market session takes place from 9:00 am to 9:15:15. Then the normal session till 3:30 pm.
The market closed up 335 points last year
Last year, on 1 November 2024, the Sensex rose by 335 points to close at 79,724 at the Muhurta trading session. The Nifty was also rose by 99 points, it closed at 24,304 levels.
Talking about 2020 to 2023, the stock market has closed every time on Muhurta trading. The Sensex had closed up 354 points in 2023, 525 in 2022, 295 in 2021 and 195 points in 2020.
The tradition of Muhurta trading is about 69 years old
The tradition of Muhurta trading on Diwali in the stock market is about 69 years old. According to the Hindu calendar year, the Hindu Vikram Samvat year 2082 is starting from the day of Diwali this year.
This festival is considered the most auspicious time to welcome wealth, prosperity and good luck throughout India. Similarly, a similar perception is associated with this Muhurta trading. Investors of the stock market consider this day very special for the start of investment.

Muhurta is a time in Hindu customs when the movement of the planets is considered favorable. Starting any work in the Muhurta ensures its positive result. That is why when the stock market opens for an hour on the auspicious time of Diwali, many people of Hinduism start their investment.
