Miss Universe 2025: Nadeem Ayoub, the first Palestinian beauty to compete in Miss Universe, took the stage during the national costume segment on Wednesday and dominated. She chose an ivory gown for this event. But what caught the attention of the world was the painting done on her dress.

Actually, Al-Aqsa Mosque and Church of the Holy Sepulcher were hand painted on the cape of Nadeem Ayub’s dress, which is a symbol of unity and living together.

Sharing some beautiful pictures on Instagram, Nadeem wrote, ‘Stepping onto the Miss Universe stage in a gown that reflected multiple generations. It was one of the most special moments of my life. Ivory for purity, green-golden embroidery inspired by our villages, a crown inspired by Shatweh and a hand-painted cape in honor of Al-Aqsa and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher that shows our togetherness and unity.’

Shatweh is a traditional Palestinian headdress worn by women in many areas there.

Miss Palestine showed unity in diversity

He further wrote, ‘In every stitch there is the art of Tatreez (Tatreez is a traditional embroidery of Palestine), the stories of Palestinian women, their hands and courage. The olive tree is a symbol of peace and belonging which reminds me of home.

She finally said, ‘It was not just a costume for me. This was my legacy, my voice and my heart on the Miss Universe stage.

These pictures of Nadeem quickly went viral. Social media users praised his message and his artistic portrayal of Palestinian identity. One user wrote, ‘Brilliant. The story of Palestine in your gown.

Who is Nadine Ayyub?
Nadine Palestine grew up in all three places, USA and Canada. At the age of just 24, she made history by becoming the first Palestinian woman to participate in the Miss Earth pageant in 2022, where she was also a top-five finalist.

According to reports, she has a diploma in Literature and Psychology as well as a certificate in Health and Nutrition. She is the founder of Olive Green Academy which provides sustainability training to Palestinian women to create eco-friendly businesses.
