Hardik Garg, a resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana made news by securing All India Rank 2 in the prestigious UPSC NDA examination. The main reason for his achievement is his dedication, discipline, and unwavering support from his family. Raised in an educated family of teachers and businessmen, Hardik’s father who is a Senior Lecturer at MMDU Ambala, has always prioritised his son’s education over everything. Not only his hard work or discipline, but Garg had a goal of pursuing a career in the armed forces from an early age; this enabled him to secure this position. From his childhood, he was captivated by the lifestyle and discipline associated with the armed forces.
In 2019, Hardik joined the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in class 8 and the environment of RIMC provided him with an experience of military life, inhabiting essential skills including leadership, discipline, teamwork, and dedication. He started his day with the reveille at 5:00 AM, followed by PT and drill sessions. After lunch, workouts, and other physical activities, and their evening roll call at 6:00 PM, study time or preps would begin for the cadets allowing them to focus on their academics. This strict routine helped in his overall development.
Hardik’s preparation journey for the NDA exam was full of challenges. Despite not being successful in the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview in the first attempt, his peers and mentors constantly supported him. Despite this, he considered his failure as a learning opportunity and worked even harder for his second attempt. His roommate Anmol has also played a significant role by inspiring him.
Hardik believes that the time he spent at RIMC and the challenges he faced have made him mentally and physically very strong. He stands out as a symbol of dedication and excellence and his achievement in the NDA exam is an inspiring story for every defence aspirant in the country who dreams to serve their nation.
