An intelligence advisory released recently has asked law enforcement agencies to “maximise” security arrangements for Israeli missions, consulates, officials, and Jewish establishments across the country in the wake of the latest development in ongoing Iran-Israel conflict, a top level official has confirmed.
According to highly placed sources privy to the latest intelligence inputs, the escalating war against Iran has sharply elevated the risk of attacks by pro-Iranian proxy organisations against Israeli and Jewish targets, including embassies, diplomatic personnel, business establishments, and places of worship.
Senior officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, intelligence assessments have flagged the threat of lone-wolf or non-orchestrated terror attacks, particularly by Iran supporters operating abroad. Such actors, the advisory warns, may target individuals or locations perceived as Israeli or Jewish, inspired or encouraged by the current conflict, sources claimed.
The threat is assessed as global in nature, with high-risk areas identified as including Iran and nations with significant Shia communities. Countries bordering the conflict zone are also considered elevated-risk jurisdictions.
‘Catalyst for Anti-Israel Elements’
Sources indicated that recent battlefield developments are expected to serve as a catalyst that will sharpen the motivation of various anti-Israel elements to carry out attacks against Jews and Israelis around the world, including within India, either directly or under the cover of public demonstrations.
In view of the prevailing threat environment, top-level sources confirmed that missions have been directed to maximise security arrangements across a broad range of locations and personnel. The directive covers Israeli and consular officials and staff, synagogues and Chabad houses, Jewish community centres, Israeli tourist delegations and businessmen, Kosher restaurants, Jewish museums, and schools, Business establishments and resorts frequented by Israeli tourists.
Patrolling around these locations has been intensified, sources said, with security personnel deployed at all identified venues instructed to remain on high alert and be suitably briefed to avoid any untoward incident.
