Andhra Pradesh Bus Accident News Today: The death toll from the bus accident in Andhra Pradesh has climbed to 13, while several others have been left injured.
A private travel bus they were on board collided with a tipper lorry near Rayavaram, close to Markapuram in Andhra Pradesh.
After the collision, the bus was engulfed in flames, leading to 10 people being burned alive and several others sustaining injuries. The accident took place while the bus was travelling from Nirmal in Telangana to Nellore.
According to officials, investigators rushed to the scene after the mishap, and the injured were admitted to various hospitals.
Preliminary information suggests there were a total of 35 passengers on board. Of whom, 13 were killed, while 22 others are undergoing treatment.
CM Naidu Expresses Grief, Orders Probe
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the accident and ordered officials to extend assistance to the injured.
He also enquired about the medical treatment being provided to those injured in the accident.
Expressing concern that the death toll may rise, the Chief Minister directed officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the causes of the accident and submit a detailed report.
“This incident happened at 6 A.M. 13 people dead up to now and remaining are hospitalized . Tipper was coming from opposite direction and hit the bus, when the accident happened bus and lorry caught fire. We are implementing safety measures to decrease the fire incident”, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, Andhra Transport Minister, told CNN.
President Murmu, PM Modi Express
President Droupadi Murmu expressed grief over the road accident, wishing a quick recovery to the injured.
“Deeply saddened to learn about the tragic bus accident in Markapuram district, Andhra Pradesh. I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. My thoughts and prayers are with them. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured”, the President wrote in a post on ‘X’.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the accident, and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased.
In addition, the PM Modi said a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 would be provided to the injured.
“The mishap in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, is tragic. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest”, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office read.
