Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu was ousted from the Malaysian Open on Saturday as she went down to her Chinese opponent, Wang Zhiyi.

The 30-year-old Sindhu went down to Zhiyi in straight sets in the final-four encounter between the two as the Chinese star posted a 21-16, 21-15 win.

Sindhu, who moved into her first semifinal of the campaign, seemed to be in good touch, but couldn’t measure up to the Chinese shuttler, who stamped her authority all over the game.

Sindhu, who opened the tournament with her win over Sung Shuo-yun in straight sets 21-12, 22-20 in the Round of 32 before breeing past Japanese shuttler Tamoka Miyazaki 21-8, 21-13.

The star from Hyderabad registered a win over Akane Yamaguchi in the quarterfinal as the Japanese ace pulled out of the fixture midway through the assignment due to an injury.
