Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah was voted as the PFA Players’ Player Of The Year on Wednesday for a record third time following his title-winning campaign last season.
With the win, Salah moves ahead of two-time recipients of the award, which include legendary names such as Mark Hughes, Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, and Kevin De Bruyne.
Salah managed to net 29 times in the previous season of the English top-flight as he led Arne Slot and Co. to their record-levelling 20th Premier League title by a huge margin.
Salah becomes the most decorated player in the history of the award, which dates back to the 1973–74 campaign, with the winner chosen by a vote amongst the members of the players’ trade union, the PFA.
The PFA Team Of The Year comprised Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels. Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk, Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth, Arsenal defenders William Saliba, Gabriel and midfielder Declan Rice. Liverpool midfielders Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister joined teammate Salah on the list, while Newcastle forward Alexander Isak and Forest striker Chris Wood complete the list.
The PFA Championship Team Of The Year included Burnley keeper James Trafford, CJ Egan-Riley, Maxime Esteve, Leeds defenders Junior Firpo and Jayden Bogle, Ao Tanaka, Burnley’s Josh Brown, Gustavo Hamer of Sheffield United, Borja Sainz of Norwich and Leeds attacking duo of Joel Piroe and Dan James.
Former England manager Gareth Southgate, who was knighted earlier in the year, was awarded the PFA 2025 Merit Award for his contributions to the sport.
