The building accident in Satya Niketan area of South Delhi has shocked the entire capital. This multi-storey building, which was being used as a paying guest (PG), suddenly collapsed like a house of cards. A hair-raising CCTV footage of this horrific accident has also surfaced.

AIIMS gave update
According to the statement issued by AIIMS, the death toll due to the collapse of Satya Niketan building has reached 6. 10 patients were admitted to JPN Apex Trauma Center (AIIMS), which is located in South-West Delhi Was injured due to building collapse in Satya Niketan. Of the 10 patients, 5 were brought dead, while 1 patient, who was in critical condition, later succumbed to his injuries, and three patients have been admitted and are being treated. One patient underwent surgery on his hands and legs. One patient suffered minor injuries and has been discharged after observation.
Additional DCP Abhimanyu Poswal said that he had received a PCR call on September 6 at around 1:30 pm in which he was informed about the building collapse. He told that the police personnel took immediate action and took some students out and sent them to a nearby hospital. However, as the investigation progressed, it was revealed that more students were buried under the debris.
Renovation was going on on the ground floor, FIR registered against the owner
According to information received from police and local sources, renovation work was going on on the ground floor of this building. It is alleged that the pillars and walls were being tampered with without keeping in mind the safety standards, due to which the structure of the entire building became extremely weak and it suddenly collapsed.
In this case, an FIR has been registered against the building owner Hariom and other responsible people in the South Campus police station of Delhi Police. This case has been registered under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 105 BNS (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), Section 290 BNS (Negligence in construction, repair or maintenance of buildings) and Section 125(a) BNS (Rash or negligent act endangering life or safety of any person or causing hurt).
Police officials say that several teams have been formed to nab the absconding landlord Hariom and other accused and the raid is going on.
Chief Minister Rekha GuptaLieutenant Governor and ministers took charge
As soon as the news of the accident was received, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Minister Kapil Mishra along with local MLAs and senior government officials themselves reached the spot. The Chief Minister took stock of the relief and rescue operations and instructed the officials that there should be no laxity in the rescue operation.
After inspecting the incident site, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directly reached AIIMS Trauma Centre. There he met the students who were injured and rescued in the Satya Niketan accident. The Chief Minister talked to doctors and health officials to know the health condition of the victims and gave instructions for their better and free treatment.
MCD issued strict notice of demolition
After this major accident in Satya Niketan, Municipal Corporation (MCD) has also come into action mode. This incident has also raised questions on the safety of the old and dilapidated buildings nearby. To prevent any other accident in future, MCD has issued a notice to vacate the building immediately adjacent to the collapsed building.
In the precautionary notice issued by MCD, it has been said that under Section 348 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act (DMC Act) 1957, the premises of house number 13 has also been found to be in a dangerous and dilapidated condition. This building can prove fatal for the people living there, nearby residents and passersby.
MCD has ordered the owner and residents of the building to demolish the dangerous structure themselves within 3 days of receiving the notice. The notice warns that if this order is not followed within the stipulated time limit, the Municipal Corporation itself will demolish the building and its entire cost will be recovered from the landlord as arrears.
