The central government is taking every possible step from its side, but the real responsibility of making these schemes successful at the ground level lies on the shoulders of the states. Therefore, he has appealed to the Chief Ministers to make such arrangements in their respective states so that the things needed by the common man are not affected. He reminded that when the country is in crisis, the Center and the states have to fight together like a family.
Prime Minister Modi has compared this situation with the Corona epidemic that occurred exactly 6 years ago. He said that the way the Center and the states worked as ‘Team India’ during Covid-19, the same spirit is needed again today. You will remember that in March 2020, when the whole world came to a standstill, PM Modi started a series of meetings with Chief Ministers. At that time, the first meeting was held on 20 March 2020, just four days after which a three-week lockdown was imposed in the country. During that difficult period, he had talked to Chief Ministers more than a dozen times so that there was no shortage in testing, tracking and treatment.
Even when the period of vaccination came in 2021, PM Modi had expressed confidence in the strength of the federal structure. To reduce the financial burden on the states, he had announced to provide free vaccine to all people above 18 years of age. He had clearly said that there is no need for any state government to spend a single penny on the vaccine. At that time, the states also rose above politics and supported the Centre, which was praised by PM Modi himself in one of his articles. He called it a new model of participation.
Today, when there is a fear of rising oil prices and breaking of supply chains due to the war in the Middle East, PM Modi’s call to the states shows that India’s real strength lies in its unity. Chief Ministers are giving information about the situation and preparedness of their respective states to PM Modi so that the global crisis does not affect the general public.
In this high-level meeting, along with Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Ministers of many big states of the country are also involved. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh, Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand and Vishnu Dev Sai of Chhattisgarh are present in the meeting. Apart from these, Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy from South India, while Bhagwant Mann from Punjab and Omar Abdullah from Jammu and Kashmir are also presenting their views. At the same time, Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren, Bhupendra Patel of Gujarat and Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra are also taking part in the discussion and giving details of the preparations of their respective states.
