LeBron James faces backlash after criticizing Memphis and Milwaukee on a podcast. The Lakers star stands by his remarks, telling critics to “chill the hell out.”

Let’s just say it hasn’t been the smoothest stretch for LeBron James.
On the court, the Los Angeles Lakers are already dealing with a mounting injury list, with Luka Doncic sidelined and Austin Reaves expected to be out until the playoffs.
Off it, LeBron has found himself at the center of a social media storm: one that has little to do with basketball and everything to do with how his words landed.
The controversy stems from an appearance on the “Bob Does Sports” podcast, where LeBron took aim at Memphis as an NBA destination.
In a candid moment, he suggested the league might be better off if the team relocated to Nashville.

“You think I want to do that, being in Memphis on a random ass Thursday? I’m not like the first guy even to talk about it in the NBA,” he said. “You guys have to move. Let’s go over to Nashville.”
He didn’t stop there. LeBron also took a swipe at Milwaukee, saying he wasn’t exactly thrilled about playing there either, especially on a “random f*cking Tuesday.”
Unsurprisingly, the comments didn’t go unnoticed. Critics online were quick to call him out, with some interpreting his remarks about Memphis, a majority-Black city, as insensitive.
Speaking later to ESPN’s Dave McMenaminLeBron addressed the criticism, but didn’t exactly walk things back.

“I said Milwaukee as well,” he pointed out. “Did I say I don’t like Black people? I’m 41 years old. There are two cities I do not like playing in right now: that’s Milwaukee, and that’s Memphis.”
“What is the problem with that?” he added. “I don’t like going home either, sh*t. And I’m from there.”
LeBron wrapped it up with a message for critics: “Chill the hell out.”
