Yamal revealed that they joked about taking a long vacation together if Spain and Brazil were to meet in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. For Yamal, Neymar remains a significant source of inspiration both on and off the field.
Earlier on Wednesday, Barcelona overcame an early deficit to defeat FC Copenhagen 4-1, securing direct qualification for the Champions League last 16 from fifth place in the league phase.
Second-half goals from Robert Lewandowski, Yamal, and Raphinha enabled Hansi Flick’s team to regain control after teenager Viktor Dadason had given the Danish visitors a surprising early lead. Substitute Marcus Rashford sealed Barcelona’s victory with a late free-kick that slipped past Copenhagen goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski.
Despite being five-time Champions League winners, Barcelona struggled to find their rhythm in the first half but managed enough after the break to comfortably secure a top-eight league phase finish.
“We all came here tonight aiming to finish in the top eight. We’re very happy with the win,” Yamal told Movistar.
“When they score a goal against you in the Champions League, it’s very hard to come back, but the team was strong and pulled it off.”
