India are rolling the dice with a familiar core and a fresh wave of young firepower, as they gear up for the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup next month in Horsens, Denmark (April 24–May 3).
Leading the men’s charge is Lakshya Sen, who arrives in red-hot form after his recent All England runner-up finish. He will be backed by a battle-tested core including Kidambi Srikanth and H. S. Prannoy, alongside the world-class doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty — the same backbone that powered India to their historic 2022 title.
Ayush Shetty earns his maiden call-up after consistent performances, while M. R. Arjun returns from injury to strengthen the doubles unit alongside Hariharan Amsakarunan and experienced campaigner Dhruv Kapila. Kiran George adds further depth in singles.
Sindhu Leads The Women
On the women’s side, PV Sindhu headlines India’s Uber Cup campaign, with rising star Unnati Hooda close behind. The squad blends experience and youth, with doubles mainstays Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela anchoring the lineup.
Youngsters like Tanvi Sharma, Devika Sihag, and Isharani Baruah have been rewarded for their recent performances, underlining a clear shift toward building depth for the future.
“The selections were based on BWF rankings as of March 10… with additional inclusions made keeping team combinations in mind,” the Badminton Association of India said in a release.
BAI General Secretary Sanjay Mishra summed it up: “We have a good mix of youth and experience in both teams… the youngsters are in great form, which gives us confidence going into the tournament.”
