Calcutta High Court on Tuesday ordered the transfer of investigation into the gruesome rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Meanwhile, protests and strikes will continue on Wednesday against the killing with the AIIMS community reaffirming their demand for the implementation of the Central Protection ACT.
AIIMS resident doctors including foreign national and sponsored candidates, fellows and undergraduates would continue their strike, including the suspension of academic activities, elective OPDs, ward, and OT services. However, emergency services, ICUs, emergency procedures and emergency OT will remain operational, RDA AIIMS, New Delhi said in a statement.
Students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur also took out a rally Tuesday night against the rape and murder of the woman PG trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College.
