Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler Harshit Rana is out of IPL 2026. He was seen walking with the help of a stick at BCCI’s Naman Award in Delhi a day earlier on March 15. Cricket website Cricbuzz wrote that Harshit will not play this season. Apart from him, Sri Lanka’s Mathish Pathirana is also injured. Both the bowlers were injured while playing for their respective teams during the T20 World Cup. KKR has decided not to take replacement of both the bowlers. The management believes that the team already has enough fast bowling options. It includes Vaibhav Arora, Umran Malik, Kartik Tyagi and Akash Deep. Harshit Rana got injured in the practice match. He was ruled out of India’s T20 World Cup due to a knee injury. He was injured in the practice match against South Africa. After this he underwent surgery. It will take time for him to become completely fit. Rana took 19 wickets in IPL 2024 and 15 wickets in 2025. KKR expects Pathirana to be fit. Sri Lankan fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana is also currently unavailable due to injury. However, KKR does not want to replace him as the franchise hopes that he can join the team at some point during the IPL. KKR had bought Pathirana for Rs 18 crore in the mega auction. On Monday, his manager shared his picture in KKR jersey, which has increased his hopes of playing in the tournament. KKR chose Muzarabani instead of Rahman. On March 13, KKR added Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani. The franchise has signed him as a replacement for Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman.
