A heated argument between a couple over repaying a loan in Karnataka’s Shivamogga escalated dramatically after the husband allegedly bit off his wife’s nose.
As per the media reports, the husband, identified as Vijay, allegedly abused, assaulted, and chopped the tip of the nose of his wife, Vidya during the quarrel.
The 30-year-old woman is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Shivamogga and is reported to be in stable condition.
As per the NDTV report, the incident took place on July 8 when Vidya and her husband Vijay were reportedly arguing over the repayment of a loan. Vidya had taken a loan for which Vijay had given surety. She failed to pay the instalments, and the lenders started harassing the couple which led to the argument.
According to the report citing the police, Vidya fell to the ground, and Vijay bit her nose, severing the front portion during the quarrel. Locals intervened and took her to Channagiri government hospital, from where she was shifted to a private hospital.
Vidya has filed a complaint against her husband, and the police have registered an FIR against Vijay at the Jayanagar Police Station in Shivamogga. However, based on territorial jurisdiction, the case was transferred to the Channagiri Police Station in Davanagere district.
