An explosion took place in two scooties parked on the roadside on Meston Road in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday evening. The explosion was so powerful that the goods kept inside the shop came out and fell. Toys were kept in a shop, which were found scattered on the road after the blast. The entire toy shop was destroyed by the blast. Local people said that the sound of the explosion was heard up to one to one and a half kilometers away. Eight people were injured in the blast, out of which two were sent home after first aid, while six were seriously burnt and their treatment is ongoing. After this incident there was chaos in the area. Police said that the actual cause of the explosion has not been known yet.
Due to the impact of the blast, cracks appeared in the walls of the nearby Markaz Mosque. Police say that the explosion took place in a scooter parked on the roadside. After the blast, people got scared and an atmosphere of chaos was created at the spot. As soon as the information was received, police, bomb disposal squad and forensic team immediately reached the spot.

CP Kanpur Raghubir Lal said that the front parts of both the scooties were damaged. In the preliminary investigation, it is possible that the explosion was caused by firecrackers. He also said that if any kind of explosive had been used, the front part of the scooter would have been completely blown off and the surrounding walls would also have been damaged.
Teams of UP ATS, BDS and FSL have also reached the spot and are busy ascertaining the type of explosion. Officials said that the real cause of the explosion will be revealed only after the completion of the investigation. Security has been increased and people nearby have been appealed to remain alert.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ashutosh Kumar said that there was an explosion in two scooties at around 7:15 pm. He said that the forensic team is present at the spot and the cause of the explosion is being thoroughly investigated. The scooters have been identified and those driving them will be interrogated. Ashutosh Kumar clarified whether it was an accident or part of some conspiracy, it will be revealed only after the investigation is completed.
