The Israeli military and the Shin Bet security agency announced the killing of a senior commander from Iran’s Quds Force in an Israeli strike in northeast Lebanon. In a joint statement, the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet said the target, Hussein Mahmoud Marshad al-Jawhari, was a top commander in the Operations Unit of the Quds Force, the extraterritorial arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Lebanon’s state news agency earlier reported that two people were killed when an Israeli drone strike hit a vehicle on a road leading to the Syrian border.

According to the Israeli statement, al-Jawhari had been involved in recent years “in advancing terrorist plots against Israel in the Syria–Lebanon arena.” It said the Operations Unit- also known as Unit 840- is responsible for directing Iranian attacks against Israel.
The Israeli military also released drone footage showing the strike.
