The Iranian embassy in India has deleted posts on its social media platform X, where they thanked the people of Kashmir and India for humanitarian aid to war-hit Iran.

The move came shortly after the posts were published, following criticism mainly from Pakistan-based accounts over the reference to Kashmir as part of India.

The deleted posts had expressed gratitude for donations of cash, gold, silverware, copper utensils, and other household items sent by people from the Kashmir Valley to support those affected by the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

Contributions came from men, women, and children, including a woman who donated gold kept in memory of her late husband. Some families also donated livestock, while children offered their savings.

One of the now-deleted posts read: “We sincerely thank the kind people of Kashmir…This kindness will never be forgotten. Thank you, India.”

Another posy described the woman’s donation and concluded with: “Thank you #Kashmir. Thank you #India.”

After deleting the posts, the embassy shared content from Iranian state media thanking “Kashmiris” without any mention of India. A reshared video later appeared with a shortened caption that only said: “We will never forget your kindness.”

The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi had initially highlighted the gesture, saying the contributions reflected the people of Kashmir’s love and solidarity with Iran.

“A respected sister from Kashmir donated the gold kept as a memento of her husband, who passed away 28 years ago, with a heart full of love and solidarity for the people of Iran,” the embassy said in a post. “Your tears and pure emotions are the greatest source of comfort for the people of Iran and will never be forgotten. Thank you, Kashmir. Thank you, India.”

No official explanation was provided for the deletion of the posts.
