India’s aviation regulator Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that November 2024 will see the highest ever traffic in the history of Indian domestic aviation.
This growth affected both airports and airlines. Delhi Airport recorded its best month till date. Apart from this, according to a report of Mint, three airlines have given their best performance in the month of November.
Indigo becomes the airline to serve 1 crore passengers in a month
Indigo has become the first airline in India to provide facility to 10 million i.e. more than 1 crore passengers in a month. Of these, 9.07 million i.e. 90.7 lakh were domestic passengers, while the remaining were international passengers.
This is the highest domestic passenger numbers for the airline since its inception 18 years ago. The airline surpassed its previous record of 8.64 million passengers in October 2024 and 8.52 million passengers in December 2023. The airline may set another record in December 2024.
IndiGo’s market share reaches all-time high of 63.6% in November
IndiGo’s market share has also increased to an all-time high of 63.6% in November. Whereas Air India has carried 3.47 million passengers in November, which also includes its subsidiary Air India Express.

India’s domestic aviation sector in 2024 has already crossed the 2023 traffic level. December 2024 is going to be another record-breaking month, with passenger traffic up 3% compared to November.
