IKEA, a Swedish furniture retailer company, has made its entry into Delhi by opening its first store in Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden. The store is part of IKEA India’s “One Click, 30 Minutes Away” model, designed to boost accessibility in high-footfall urban areas where sprawling outlets are not feasible.

According to The Indian Express, IKEA’s new 15,000 sq ft outlet in West Delhi marks a shift from its typical large-format stores, which often span over 4.5 lakh sq ft.

IKEA India CEO Susanne Pulverer said as quoted by The Indian Express that the city store format complements the company’s other channels. “Online is our base, complemented by large stores like those in Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, and Bengaluru. We’re building two more in Gurugram and Noida. Then we have city stores, which can be closer to customers in shopping centres and other areas,” she said.

The Swedish retailer debuted its city store concept in India in late 2021 with an 80,000 sq ft outlet in Mumbai’s Worli. More recently, it introduced a “Plan and Order Point” in East Bengaluru to provide personalised home planning and design services.

Do You Know IKEA Use Red And Yellow Tags In Its Store?

At IKEA, price tags do more than just show how much an item costs — they also guide you on how to get it. A red tag means the product is available for self-pickup. You can head straight to the Market Hall or the Self-Serve Furniture Area and use the location details printed on the tag to find it. This is perfect for items you can carry on your own or load onto a trolley.

A yellow tag, on the other hand, signals that the item requires assistance. These are usually products that might need special handling, stock checking, or help with placing an order. In such cases, you’ll need to approach an IKEA co-worker at the information counter, who will guide you through the next steps.
