The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has invited applications for its four-year Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence for the 2026–27 academic year. The last date to apply is April 30, 2026. Detailed information on the programme structure is available at iitg.ac.in/oes/. The programme commences on September 7, 2026.
The B.Sc. (Hons.) in DS & AI at IIT Guwahati covers core to advanced topics, blending theoretical foundations with practical training. It also features internships, term projects, and a final-year capstone project to build real-world exposure. Each 12-week course includes interactive video lectures, real-world case studies, and live sessions conducted by IIT Guwahati faculty and industry professionals, the IIT stated in an official notice.
Multiple Exit Options
The programme also offers multiple exit options with recognised credentials:
· After 1st year – Advanced Certificate in DS & AI
· After 2nd year – Diploma in DS & AI
· After 3rd year – B.Sc. Degree in DS & AI
· After 4th year – B.Sc. (Honours) Degree in DS & AI
Students who exit with a Certificate, Diploma, or B.Sc. degree may rejoin after a one-year break to continue their studies.
Who Can Apply?
The programme caters to a wide spectrum of learners, including high school graduates from science and non-science streams aiming for a dual degree or a second degree from a premier institute. It is equally suitable for working professionals and entrepreneurs wishing to upskill in AI and Data Science, as well as individuals planning a career change or seeking to deepen their expertise in high-demand domains.
Those who have completed class 12 or equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognised board or university are eligible to apply.
Admission Process
— Direct admission for candidates who were eligible for JEE (Advanced) in any year.
— Other candidates must clear an online qualifier test on Mathematics essentials (with an optional preparatory online course available to support their preparation).
