A six-year-old boy died of severe head injuries after an iron gate fell on him while he was playing with his friends at a school in Hyderabad’s Hayath Nagar on Monday evening.
According to police, the Class 1 boy, Ajay, was playing near the iron gate at MPP School around 4 pm when the incident took place.
Police sources said, some children climbed atop the gate and swung it to and fro, the weakly welded joints crumbled and the gate fell on Ajay and he suffered serious head injuries.
He eventually succumbed to his injuries. Police have launched a probe into the matter.
This is not a one-off incident. A similar incident occurred on July 31when a damaged iron gate fell on a three-and-a-half-year-old girl named Girija Ganesh Shinde and she died.
The horrifying accident was captured on a CCTV camera in one of the nearby houses, and the footage has since spread widely on the internet.
The video showed a group of children playing near the gate, attempting to close it. As Girija walked by with another girl, the gate suddenly collapsed. The children fled in fear, but tragically, the little girl was caught under the falling gate with no time to escape.
