The FASTag Annual Pass, priced at Rs 3,000, is expected to ease congestion, reduce wait times, and cut down on disputes at toll plazas
It can be used on all National Highways across India.
In a move to ease toll payments for private car owners, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) will roll out an Annual FASTag Pass from August 15, 2025, priced at Rs 3,000. Announcing the decision on X, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari called it a transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel.

Who Is It For?
The FASTag Annual Pass will apply only to non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. It will offer up to 200 trips on national highways and will be valid for one year or 200 trips, whichever comes first.
Where Can It Be Activated?
Gadkari said that a link for activation and renewal will be available on the Rajmarg Yatra App, and on the websites of NHAI and MoRTH.
What Problem Will It Address?
The FASTag Annual Pass is expected to ease congestion, reduce wait times, and cut down on disputes at toll plazas. It also aims to resolve long-standing issues over toll plazas located within a 60 km radius by offering a single, upfront payment.
How Are Trips Counted?
A ministry official explained that one trip is counted every time a vehicle crosses a toll plaza. For example, if someone is travelling from Delhi to Agra through the Yamuna Expressway, the three toll plazas on the way — Jewar, Mathura, and Agra — will count as three separate trips.
However, in closed tolling systems where toll is collected only at the exit, the entire journey counts as a single trip. “This will also be a cost-effective option for the commuters,” the official said.
Would Users Need A New FASTag?
No new FASTag is required. The Annual Pass can be attached to the user’s existing FASTag card. Once the pass expires, either after one year or 200 trips, it can be easily recharged.
Who Would Benefit?
The official said the pass would benefit frequent city-to-city travellers and those who drive regularly to their hometowns. “You won’t need to top up FASTag every week or month anymore,” the official added.
How FASTag Has Changed Tolling
With a 98 per cent adoption rate and over 8 crore users, FASTag has already transformed toll collection across India. This move follows another key reform from last year, under which vehicles without FASTag affixed to windshields are charged double the toll — a step aimed at ensuring smoother operations at toll booths.
