Telangana government has ordered half-day schools in the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) area for today and tomorrow, that is, August 13 and 14.

The Indian Meteorological Department has announced that Telangana will experience very heavy rains for two days, Wednesday and Thursday. The government and officials are on alert and have declared holidays for schools in Warangal, Hanmakonda, Mahabubabad, Janagama, Yadadri, and Bhuvanagiri districts on these days.

In these districts, there will be a holiday on August 15 after the flag salute on Independence Day. Additionally, there is a Krishnashtami holiday on August 16, followed by a Sunday on August 17, resulting in a total of five consecutive holidays. However, students are advised to stay indoors as there are several hazards such as falling tree branches, power lines, and muddy roads. Authorities recommend that they stay home and study.

Hyderabad is experiencing heavy rainfall, with torrents pouring down. Consequently, the Telangana government has ordered half-day schools in the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) area for today and tomorrow, that is, August 13 and 14. Parents are advised to contact the school management for complete details and monitor school WhatsApp groups.

The rain, started at 10 am today and intensified as the hours passed. The rain will further increase after noon, with intermittent downpours throughout the afternoon. It will decrease somewhat in the evening but will resume after 9 pm and continue throughout the night. Heavy rain is expected on the August 14 as well.

Hyderabad roads have already been damaged due to the rains, causing slow movement of vehicles. GHMC officials are advising people to leave their homes only in emergencies. IT employees are being encouraged to work from home if possible. CM Revanth Reddy reiterated this in yesterday’s review.
