The Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad claimed to have busted a terror module with the arrest of four persons, with alleged links to Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent.
According to officials, Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) is a banned terror outfit. “Terror module affiliated with AQIS has been busted by the Gujarat ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad). Four persons linked to the proscribed terror outfit have been arrested,” the ATS said in a statement.
The ATS identified the accused as Mohd Faiq from Delhi, Mohd Fardeen from Ahmedabad, Sefullah Kureshi from Modasa in Aravalli, and Zeeshan Ali from Noida in Uttar Pradesh.
Confirming the arrests, Gujarat ATS DIG Sunil Joshi said all four suspects were under surveillance for activities suspected to be connected to AQIS, a proscribed terror outfit affiliated with Al Qaeda.
Joshi said the operation was conducted based on specific intelligence inputs and coordinated surveillance.
In 2023, four Bangladeshi nationals were arrested from different parts of Ahmedabad for having links with the same terror outfit.
