Foxconn’s subsidiary Yuzhan Technology has withdrawn 300 Chinese engineers setting up factory in Tamil Nadu, India. Such an incident has happened for the second time within 2 months. These engineers were helping to create a display module facility and production line in India.
According to the Economic Times report, the Chinese government has sought a report from the Chairman of Foxconn on investment in India, after which the company had to take the step. At the same time, Foxconn has told the Government of India that he has been asked to send all those Chinese migrant employees back to China with immediate effect.
This incident took place at a time when the relationship between India and China is coming to light. Foxconn is focusing on setting up its production line outside China. For this, the company is starting a new unit in Tamil Nadu with an investment of ₹ 13,180 crore. This is where 300 Chinese engineers were working.

India overtakes China in sending iPhone to America
India has become the largest exporter of smartphones to America, leaving behind China. This is an indication that the manufacturing supply chain between tariff war is moving away from China. According to research firm Canalis, Made in India was 44% of the imported smartphones in the US in April-June this year.
India was only 13% in April-June last year. On the other hand, China’s share in the smartphone exported to the US declined to 25% in the June quarter, which was 61% a year ago.

India is becoming the hub of iPhone manufacturing
2.39 million iPhones have been made in India till June this year. 78% of iPhones sold in America are being made in India. According to market researcher Canalis, between January and June in 2025, India has a 23.9 million (2 crore 39 lakh) iPhone, which is 53% higher than the previous year.
According to research firm Cybermedia Research, the export of iPhone from India (iPhone sent abroad) has also increased to 22.88 million (2 crore 28 lakh) units. Last year, the figure of iPhone manufacturing in India was 15.05 million (1 crore 50 lakh) in the same period (January to June). That is, it has increased by 52% on an annual basis.
