The English football team played out a 1-1 draw against Uruguay on Saturday at the Wembley in an international friendly, which was marred by England defender Ben White being booed by a section of the nation’s fanbase.
White was subjected to jeers due to his decision to not turn up for England after having left the camp during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar due to personal reasons and not making himself available for selection following the same during former manager Gareth Southgate’s tenure.
Former England skipper Jordan Henderson backed the defender and stated that the Arsenal defender has the backing of his English teammates.
“They listen to what is being said in the media, and a lot of the time what the media says isn’t true.
“I have been through it myself, but that is part and parcel of being an England player.
“Some of the fans probably don’t even know why they are booing, they listen to what is being said in the media, and a lot of the time what the media says isn’t true.
“Not many people know the ins and outs of what happened in Qatar and it is for us to deal with internally. Ben has been good since he came back in and we will support him as team-mates.”
