From next month i.e. 1st April, traveling on the National Highway will become a little expensive. The Road Transport Ministry has decided to increase the prices of FASTag Annual Pass by 2.5%. Now private vehicle owners will have to pay Rs 3,075 instead of Rs 3,000 for the annual pass. This pass allows car users to travel without stopping at 200 toll plazas across the country.
Prices increased under annual revision According to officials of the Road Transport Ministry, when the Fastag Annual Pass was launched, a provision for review and change of prices every year was made in its notification. This increase is part of the same annual revision process. This time an increase of 2.5% has been made on the basis of the formula fixed for changing the rates of highway toll across the country.
More than 52 lakh people are using this pass The government had started this special annual pass from August 15, which has received a much better response than expected. So far, more than 52 lakh highway car users have joined this scheme. The biggest feature of this pass is that it can be recharged any number of times in a year and it proves to be quite economical for travelers traveling long distances.
Opportunity to buy at old rate till 31st March If you frequently travel on the highway and want to avoid this increase, now is your chance. Officials said that those users who recharge their pass by March 31 or buy a new pass, will get it at the old rate i.e. Rs 3,000 only. The new rates will be updated in the system from the morning of April 1.
Facility available at 200 toll plazas This annual pass is currently valid at 200 major toll plazas of the country. This not only saves time but also saves you from the hassle of repeatedly deducting toll tax. The government aims to include more toll plazas within the scope of this pass in the coming times, so as to promote cashless economy and smooth travel.
