A 66-year-old retired bank manager fell to death on Tuesday morning after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Haryana’s Faridabad, the police said.
The officials said that the incident took place when he was watering plants at around 8 am, and a part of the skywalk collapsed, leading him to fall.
Kulwant Singh lived at the Savana Society in Sector 86 of the city with his wife and son. He had retired from the State Bank of India.
Police said that Singh used to water the small potted plants placed on the skywalk every day. On Tuesday morning, while walking from the T-8 tower to T-7 to water the plants, the slab on the skywalk collapsed, and he fell.
Soon after the incident, he was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
Though no official complaint has been filed with the police yet, some residents of the society said that all the skywalks in the complex are in very poor condition.
The residents had submitted a complaint to the Resident Welfare Association over the matter a week before; however, no action had been taken, the officials said.
The police have placed the body of the deceased in the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
“We haven’t received any complaint from the victim’s family. If we do get one, further action will be taken,” the police said.
