Expect Cameron Green to bowl very soon: Ajinkya Rahane shares exciting news for KKR

KKR captain has shared exciting news for the fans of Kolkata ahead of the Sunrisers Hyderabad clash as he expects Cameron Green to return to bowling soon. Green was bought by KKR for Rs. 25.2 crore and was expected to be the replacement for the retired Andre Russell.

The Aussie all-rounder was bought for big money with the expectation that he would be available to contribute with the ball as well, just like Russell. However, during the loss to MI, Green wasn’t used as a bowler, which drew criticism from fans and pundits, given his price tag.

After the first game, Rahane said that Cricket Australia was holding back Green from bowling, to which the Australian cricketing body retaliated.

Green was seen back bowling in the nets on the eve of the game at the Eden Gardens on Thursday, with Abhishek Nayar defending his buy.

Speaking at the toss, Rahane said that Green is doing everything right at the moment and is getting to full fitness to bowl.

“He is doing all the things that he needs to do, physio and training. Our training is looking after him really well. All that I can say is that you will see him bowl very soon,” said Rahane.

Green has bowled just 7.1 overs in 7 T20Is this year so far and has been primarily used as a top-order batter by Australia.

KKR’s INEXPERIENCED BOWLING NEEDS TO STEP UP

KKR’s bowling has taken a major hit this season, with Harshit Rana and Akash Deep missing the campaign with injuries and Matheesha Pathirana yet to link up with the side. KKR decided to stick with the same team that played against MI and Rahane urged the inexperienced bowling lineup to step up in the first home game of the season.

“The bowling unit, which is a bit inexperienced, needs to do better. Hopefully, they will do really well tonight,” said Rahane.

KKR won the toss and opted to field first in the game.
