Assembly Elections 2026 Live Updates: Campaigning has intensified for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. Political parties and their candidates have stepped up door-to-door outreach across constituencies as the polls approach.

According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry will go to polls on April 9, while Tamil Nadu will vote on April 27. West Bengal will vote in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The results for all five elections will be announced on May 4.

In West Bengal, the contest will mainly be BJP versus Trinamool Congress (TMC). In Tamil Nadu, the contest is expected to revolve around the long-standing DMK–AIADMK rivalry, with actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerging as a potential disruptor in the state’s Dravidian political landscape.

In Assam, BJP will see a bid to retain power for a second consecutive term. Kerala will witness a contest between the CPI(M)-led LDF and the Congress-led UDF, with the BJP aiming to expand its presence.

In Puducherry, Congress is contesting with DMK and CPI, while the opposition alliance includes the All India NR Congress, BJP, and AIADMK.
