Indian Tejas Fighter Jet Crashes at Dubai Air Show: Screengrab of video shared online
An Indian Tejas fighter jet crashed during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show on Friday. Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who was flying the aircraft, also died in the tragic incident.
The video of the incident, now making the rounds on social media platforms, shows the aircraft soaring almost vertically into the sky, just moments before the crash. The aircraft appeared to lose control during the stunt and crashed a short distance away from the display area.
The aircraft is captured in a sharp climb, with a trail of white vapour streaming from its engine. Moments later, the jet went down, and a huge plume of black smoke and fire rose from the crash site.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed the incident and mentioned that a court of inquiry is being constituted to ascertain the cause of the accident.
The Dubai Media Office has also confirmed that an Indian Tejas fighter aircraft taking part in a flying display at the Dubai Airshow crashed earlier on Friday, leading to the tragic death of the pilot.
Authorities said firefighting and emergency response teams reached the spot within minutes and are currently working to manage the situation.
