As Delhi’s schools gear up for the 2026-27 academic year, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has released its annual academic calendar, aligned with notified holidays and existing regulations to ensure smooth functioning of schools and the holistic development of students. As per the calendar, online registration for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will begin in the first week of April.
The schedule, applicable to all government and government-aided schools in Delhi, sets out major timelines for admissions, examinations, vacations and co-curricular activities for the entire session, reported PTI. The document also specifies important dates for major competitive exams. Registrations for national-level tests such as JEE, NEET, CA and CLAT are planned for July. Scholarship exams, including the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship and the Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha, are slated for August, providing meritorious students with additional avenues of support.
School Academic Calendar
The new academic session will formally start on April 1. From that date, admissions to Classes 6 to 9 under the non-plan category will open and will be held in three online cycles between April and July. The first cycle will run from April 1 to April 7. Admissions to Class 11 will begin after the declaration of Class 10 results, allowing students to move ahead smoothly based on their performance.
For Classes 10 and 12 under the non-plan category, a common admission test is scheduled for April 25, with results to be declared on April 28. This offers a clear, time-bound route for students seeking admission to these critical board classes.
The calendar also defines the flow of the school year through its vacation plan. Summer holidays will run from May 11 to June 30, providing a substantial break during the intense academic schedule. An autumn break is scheduled from October 17 to October 19, and winter holidays will be observed from January 1 to January 15, 2027.
Assessment timelines have been clearly laid down as well. Mid-term examinations for Classes 3 to 12 will be conducted between September 15 and October 13. Annual examinations for Classes 3 to 9 and 11 will be held from February 15 to March 23, 2027. Results for these final exams will be announced by the end of March, bringing the academic year to a well-structured close.
