Chief Justice Surya Kant on Saturday gave clarification on his parasite and cockroach remarks. He said that a section of the media had misrepresented my comments. He said, ‘His comment was especially for those people who have entered professions like advocacy with the help of fake and fake degrees. Such people have also entered media, social media and other respectable professions. They are like parasites. In fact, it was claimed in media reports that the Chief Justice, while hearing a case on May 15, had compared the unemployed youth of the country to cockroaches and parasites. CJI Surya Kant’s bench reprimanded the lawyer. This case is of May 15. The Supreme Court bench was hearing the petition filed by lawyer Sanjay Dubey against the Registrar General of Delhi High Court. The petitioner wanted to get the status of senior lawyer. Justice Bagchi questioned whether the tag of Senior Advocate is just a status symbol or a means of participation in the justice system. CJI Surya Kant then said that like cockroaches, there are many youth who are not getting employment in this profession. They are becoming social media and RTI activism. There are thousands of people who are roaming around wearing black robes, but there are serious doubts about their degrees. The bench also said that everyone in the world may be eligible to become a senior, but you are not entitled to it. Even if the Delhi High Court makes you a senior advocate, the Supreme Court will cancel that decision considering your behaviour. ——————————————– Also read this news related to Supreme Court… Supreme Court staff will have 2 days work from home: Judges will go to court by car pooling; Decision on Modi’s appeal to save fuel: On Friday, the Supreme Court has issued a new guideline regarding PM Modi’s appeal to save fuel.
