- OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Health Feature: Connect Medical Records & Fitness Apps For Personalized Advice, Waitlist Open

Sam Altman’s company Open-AI has launched a new feature ‘ChatGPT Health’ for health related information. The feature allows users to link their medical records and fitness apps like Apple Health and My-Fitness-Pal to ChatGPT.
The company claims that with its help people will be able to understand their diseases, lab test reports and fitness routines better. At present, a waitlist has been started for this feature.
Every week 23 crore people ask health related questions
Open-AI said in a blog post that every week about 230 million people around the world ask health and wellness questions to ChatGPT. In view of this increasing popularity, the company has designed ‘ChatGPT Health’ in collaboration with doctors.
Its aim is to make people more aware of their health and to better prepare them before their doctor’s appointment.
Medical records and fitness apps will provide accurate answers
The biggest feature of ChatGPT Health is its integration. Users will be able to securely connect their medical data and wellness apps to it.
- Understanding Test Reports: This will help you understand your recent lab test results.
- Workout and Diet: It will recommend diet and exercise according to your lifestyle.
- Insurance advice: It will also explain the advantages and disadvantages of different insurance options based on your health pattern.
Emphasis on data security: Data will not be used in training AI models
Considering the sensitivity of medical data, Open-AI has made strict security arrangements. The company says that:
- Conversations in the health section will be completely encrypted and ‘compartmentalized’.
- The data in this section will not be used to train AI models.
- The memory of health chat will be separate from normal chat and users will be able to delete it whenever they want.
How can you use it and where is this service available?
To use ChatGPT Health, users must sign up for the waitlist now. Once accessed, it will appear under the name ‘Health’ in the sidebar of ChatGPT. The facility to add medical records is currently available only for US users.
The company has also clarified that it also has the facility to provide ‘custom instructions’ so that ChatGPT knows what to pay attention to and what not to say.
