CBI today questioned industrialist Anil Ambani on March 19 in the ₹2,929 crore loan fraud case related to State Bank of India. Anil Ambani reached the CBI headquarters in Delhi in the morning, where the agency officials questioned him.
SBI suffers loss of ₹2,929 crore CBI had registered a case against Anil Ambani and RCom in August last year. According to the SBI complaint, the company had total outstanding of more than ₹40,000 crore from various banks.
Of this, SBI alone suffered a loss of ₹2,929.05 crore. CBI has registered a case in this matter under sections of criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal breach of trust.
10 year old case, refusal to join management Anil Ambani’s side says that this complaint of SBI is related to cases more than 10 years old. At the time of issue, Anil Ambani was only a non-executive director of the company and was not involved in the day-to-day management or functioning of the company.
Anil Ambani’s spokesperson said – will fully cooperate in the investigation Anil Ambani’s spokesperson has issued a statement regarding the inquiry. The statement said that Anil Ambani is appearing before the CBI in Delhi on March 19 and 20. This appearance is in connection with the FIR registered on the complaint of SBI. The spokesperson said, Ambani is committed to extend full cooperation to all the investigating agencies and will present his stand strongly.
What will happen next? CBI will now match the documents collected in this case and the statements of Anil Ambani. Anil Ambani has also challenged the decision of SBI to declare itself a fraud in the court. This inquiry by CBI may continue tomorrow i.e. on March 20, in which in-depth questions can be asked regarding the fund trail (where did the money go).
