Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced to provide jobs to 10 lakh people in the gaming sector and open labs in schools and colleges to teach content creation to the youth. In the labs, children and youth will be taught content creation like making reels, videos, animations. Also, the amount of dedicated SHE-Mart for women and PMKS for farmers has been maintained at Rs 6,000 annually.
Let us know what announcements were made for different categories of people…
1. For the youth
- With the help of Indian Institute of Creative Technology, Mumbai, Content Creator Labs will be opened in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges.
- 20 lakh youth will get jobs in Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (ABGC) sector by 2030.
- 5 new townships will be developed, where the youth will be made ‘corporate friends’ by giving them the opportunity to work in companies along with studies.
- Rs 12.2 lakh crore will be spent to strengthen internet connectivity and digital networks in remote areas.
- A fund of ₹10,000 crore will be created to provide loans to gaming startups. More than 10 lakh professionals will be hired.
- 10,000 new tech fellowships will be started in IITs and IISc, with a focus on research in AI and deep-tech.
- 4 telescope infrastructure facilities will be established to promote astrophysics and astrology.
- A National Institute of Hospitality will be created which will prepare students for direct work in the service industry.
- A 12-week hybrid training course will run at 20 major tourist sites. With this, 10,000 tourist guides will be upskilled.
- National Destination Digital Knowledge Grid will be established. This will create job opportunities for local researchers, historians and content creators.
- Three new All India Institutes of Ayurveda will be established in the country.
2. For women
- Self Help Entrepreneur i.e. SHE-Mart will be established to promote businesswomen. It will have retail shops run by women shopkeepers from the regional community.
- A girls hostel will be built in every district of the country. With this, girl students from remote areas will be able to devote more time to lab and research, which can increase participation in higher education.
- A special fund will be created to promote women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics i.e. STEM.
- The budget has been increased to further strengthen the infrastructure and CCTV networks for women safety.
- Special Ayurvedic care centers will be opened for women’s health.
3. For employed people
- There was no change in income tax slabs and rates. Income up to Rs 12 lakh was made tax-free in 2025. The standard deduction of ₹75,000 remains intact under the new tax regime.
- The mandatory salary limit for Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) has been increased from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000.
- ‘Education to Employment and Enterprises’ committee will be formed. This committee will assess the impact of emerging technologies including AI on employment and give recommendations.
- A fund of Rs 10,000 crore will be created to help small entrepreneurs (SMEs).
4. For farmers
- Multilanguage AI tool ‘Bharat Vistaar’ will be launched to modernize farming. This tool will provide farmers with updates on farming methods, weather information and crop stocks in their own language.
- In the next one year, information about 6 crore farmers and their land will be included in the ‘Digital Registry’.
- Special incentives will be given for increasing coconut production, scientific cultivation of sandalwood and cultivation of almond, walnut, cashew and cocoa in hilly areas.
- In the next two years, 1 crore farmers will be trained to adopt natural farming and will be given certificates for it. For this, 10,000 centers will be established across the country.
- Crop storage capacity will be developed across the country to prevent wastage of crops.
- The budget for fish farming has been increased to Rs 2,352 crore. ‘Credit-linked subsidy’ scheme will be launched to promote startups in dairy and animal husbandry.
- The amount received under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has been retained at Rs 6,000 annually. This will continue to benefit 11.8 crore farmers.
Now let us know what announcements were made for different sectors in Budget 2026-
1. Medical and Health
- Custom duty on 17 cancer medicines has been removed. Medicines used in 7 rare diseases like hemophilia will also be cheaper.
- 3 new All India Ayurvedic Institutes will open in the country. National Mental Health Care will be started in Ranchi, Jharkhand and Tezpur, Assam.
- Announcement of Rs 10 thousand crore for ‘Biopharma Shakti Scheme’. Through this, India will be made a biopharma hub in the next 5 years.
- 3 new National Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institutes will be created. In these, more than 1 lakh health workers will be given training.
- To make India a medical tourism destination, 5 regional medical hubs will be built in different states. For this, the Center will support the states.
- The capacity of hospitals will be increased by more than 50% by opening emergency and trauma centers in district hospitals across the country.
2. For the army
- The Army has received a total of Rs 7.8 lakh crore. That means about Rs 1.04 lakh crore more than last year. This is the highest in the last 9 years.
- Rs 3.6 lakh crore has been received for salary and Rs 1.71 lakh crore has been received for distributing pension. That means, about 68% of the total defense budget will be spent on salary-pension.
- For salary, Army has received the maximum of Rs 2.43 lakh crore, Air Force has received Rs 63 thousand crore and Navy has received about Rs 47 thousand crore.
- The capital budget is Rs 2.19 lakh crore which is 21% more than the previous budget. Most of it is used for the purchase of weapons.
- Out of the capital budget, about Rs 64 thousand crore will be spent for making aircraft and air engines. 25 thousand crores will be available for naval warship.
3. For Railways
- This year, Railways has received a total of Rs 2.81 lakh crore. Last year this budget was Rs 2.55 lakh crore. That means about 10% more in the railway budget.
- 7 new high speed railway corridors will be built in the country. These corridors will be built from Mumbai to Pune, Pune to Hyderabad, Hyderabad to Bengaluru, Hyderabad to Chennai, Chennai to Bengaluru, Delhi to Varanasi and Varanasi to Siliguri.
4. For infrastructure
- This time a total capital expenditure of Rs 12.2 lakh crore has been fixed for infrastructure. That means about Rs 1 lakh crore more than last year.
- Capital expenditure means such expenses which generate long term revenue. It is used for expenses like building roads, over bridges, schools and hospitals.
- The government will create tourism destination centers in 5 eastern states including West Bengal. The government will run 4 thousand e-buses in these states.
- 20 new waterways will be built in the country to transport goods. These waterways will connect mineral areas, industrial centers and ports.
- The central government will build a new freight corridor from Dankuni in West Bengal to Surat in Gujarat.
