BJP issues fifth list of five candidates for West Bengal polls. Polling in West Bengal is set to be held on April 23 and 29.

As the battle for West Bengal heats up ahead of the Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released its fifth list of candidates, further firming up its poll strategy in the state.
The latest list names five candidates for key constituencies. Saurav Sikdar has been fielded from Dum Dum Uttar, while Taraknath Chatterjee will contest from Krishnanagar Uttar. Anupam Biswas will enter the fray from Kalyani, and Anindya Raju Banerjee has been nominated from Madhyamgram. Rudraprasad Banerjee will be the BJP candidate from Uluberia Purba.

With this announcement, the BJP has declared 292 candidates for the 294 Assembly seats in West Bengal. The state will vote in two phases, on April 23 and April 29, with the results scheduled to be announced on May 4.
The ruling Trinamool Congress has already declared its candidates for all 294 seats, setting the stage for a high-stakes electoral contest.
PM Modi To Visit Cooch Behar On Sunday
As the voting nears, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch BJP’s campaign for the West Bengal Assembly elections on Sunday. The PM will be visiting Cooch Behar on April 5. As per the reports, he will be addressing a ‘Bijoy Sankalpa Sabha’ at the historic Ras Mela grounds around noon.
During the rally, Modi is expected to underscore BJP’s vision for a “developed West Bengal,” highlight issues raised in the BJP’s recently released ‘people’s chargesheet’ against the ruling TMC government in the state, and focus on governance, law and order, and alleged corruption.
TMC Releases List Of Star Campaigners
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday released its list of star campaigners for Phase I of the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. The list names several heavyweights on the party including Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, AITC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, Subrata Bakshi, Chandrima Bhattacharya, Firhad Hakim, Aroop Biswas, Kalyan Banerjee, Dr Manas Ranjan Bhunia, Dr Shashi Panja, Snehasis Chakraborty, Birbaha Hansda, actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, Jay Prakash Majumdar, Kunal Ghosh, Deepak Adhikari (Dev), Mahua Moitra, Kirti Azad, Satabdi Roy, Partha Bhowmick and Saayoni Ghosh.
