It’s no secret that Bruno Fernandes has been the best player at Manchester United for years now.
Through inconsistency, chaos, and constant transition, the Portuguese midfielder has been the one constant.
He’s been the heartbeat of a side that’s often flattered to deceive. If anything, he’s looked like a one-man rescue act at times.
And this past weekend, he added another chapter to his story.
Bruno Enters United History
Fernandes officially reached 100 goals and 100 assists for United — becoming only the third player in club history to hit that milestone.
Even more impressively, he got there in just 318 appearances, making him the fastest to do so.
Faster than who, perhaps? Oh well, just a few random footballers called Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who reached the same combined tally in 319 and 325 games respectively at Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Of course, those two have gone on to redefine footballing greatness. But Fernandes’ achievement, in a far less stable and dominant team, deserves serious respect.
A Season of Carry Jobs
This isn’t just about long-term output. Fernandes is delivering right now.
He’s already registered 17 assists and 7 goals this season, and is dragging United toward a potential top-four finish and Champions League return.
But the real eye-opener? His creativity.
Fernandes has created 100 chances in the league this season. The next closest, Declan Rice, sits on just 58.
That’s not a gap. That’s a different universe.
He’s also produced five or more chances in 12 separate matches, while the closest challengers, such as Rayan Cherki, have managed that feat just twice all season.
Put simply, no one is operating at Fernandes’ level right now when it comes to pure playmaking.
In a team still searching for identity, he is the identity.
