As severe winter conditions persist across North India, their impact is now being felt in the south, with strong cold waves sweeping through several parts of Karnataka.
Karnataka is feeling the chill as temperatures in Bengaluru have dipped to 8.8 degrees Celsius. Weather officials say the city is likely to see clear to partly cloudy conditions over the next few days.
According to the IMD’s five-day forecast, Bengaluru’s urban and rural areas are expected to see clear to partly cloudy skies, with no rain predicted.
IMD data shows that the cold wave has been more pronounced in outlying and interior areas. Bengaluru Rural recorded a minimum temperature of 16.1 degrees Celsius, with mornings feeling noticeably colder in these regions.
Over the past 12 hours, Bengaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 29.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 17.3 degrees Celsius, with no rainfall reported during this period.
According to the IMD weather update, Chikkaballapur emerged as the coldest district, recording a minimum temperature of 8.8 degrees Celsius and breaking earlier temperature records.
The drop in temperatures to single and even sub-single digits across several southern and interior districts highlights the intensity of the winter conditions currently gripping Karnataka.
