PV Sindhu lost to World No. 2 Wang Zhi Yi of China 18-21, 8-21 in the women’s singles pre-quarterfinals at the Badminton Asia Championships Ningbo on Thrsday.

The head-to-head ahead of this match — which lasted for just 46 minutes — was equal between them and now the win-loss in past meetups reads 4-3 in favour of the Chinese star.

The Indian star shuttler had earlier defeated Malaysia’s Wong Ling Ching 15-21, 21-11, 21-19 in 1 hour and 7 minutes.

Unnati Hooda, HS Prannoy and Ayush Shetty will be in action soon after PV Sindhu‘s loss.

Ayush Made History

World No. 25 Ayush, who won the US Open Super 300 title last year, had earlier stunned world No. 7 Lin Shi Feng of China with a 21-13, 21-16 victory in 51 minutes.

HS Prannoy defeated Nguyen Hai Dang of Vietnam 24-22, 21-12 in 47 minutes. He will face Hong Yang of China in the pre-quarterfinals after the latter received a walkover in the opening round.

Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Malvika Bansod and Tanvi Sharma exited in the opening round.
