According to a report by the New York Post, Leavitt, 28, was joined by top officials and close aides at a pink-themed gathering held at President Donald Trump’s golf club in northern Virginia, marking a rare moment away from the daily grind of press briefings.
Leavitt and her husband Nicholas Riccio are expecting a baby girl in May. The couple welcomed their first child, son Niko, in July 2024.
Leavitt is not alone. The administration is seeing what insiders describe as a “baby boom,” with multiple figures connected to senior officials also expecting.
Among them are Katie Miller, wife of deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller; Samantha Blair, wife of deputy chief of staff James Blair; and Hayley Harrison, chief of staff to first lady Melania Trump.
The cluster of pregnancies has added a personal dimension to a White House otherwise defined by political intensity and policy battles.
A CELEBRATION WITH TRUMPWORLD FIGURES
The baby shower drew nearly 50 attendees, including several prominent women from the administration and political circles. The event featured decorations with balloons, teddy bears and a “sprinkle with love” theme, the New York Post reported.
Among those present were Attorney General Pam Bondi and Washington DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro, along with other senior officials, spouses of Cabinet members, and members of the White House communications team.
Leavitt’s press office colleagues also attended in large numbers, underscoring her close working relationships within the administration.
BALANCING POWER AND PARENTHOOD
Leavitt, the youngest-ever White House press secretary, has become one of the most visible faces of the Trump administration since taking office in January 2025 at age 27.
She is also the first press secretary to serve while pregnant and has said she plans to return to the briefing room after maternity leave. Her public profile has increasingly blended policy messaging with glimpses of family life. Her son Niko has accompanied her to the White House, flown on Air Force One and appeared at official events.
Leavitt briefly stepped away from her role during the 2024 campaign to give birth, but returned within days following an assassination attempt on Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania.
