Axis Bank has made a profit of Rs 6,304 crore in the third quarter (October-December) of the financial year 2024-25. There has been an increase of 3.8% on annual basis. The bank had made a standalone net profit of Rs 6,071 crore in the same quarter a year ago.

At the same time, in the December quarter, the bank’s Net Interest Income (NII) increased by 8.6% on annual (YoY) basis to Rs 13,606 crore. Whereas, in the third quarter of FY25, Net Interest Margin (NIM) i.e. total interest income stood at 3.93%. The bank released the results today i.e. on January 16 after the market closed.

Operating profit increased by 15% on annual basis

Axis Bank said in an exchange filing that its operating profit increased 15% year-on-year to Rs 10,534 crore in the October-December quarter. At the same time, the core operating profit of the bank increased by 14% on annual basis to Rs 10,102 crore.

Gross non-performing assets decreased to 1.46%

Axis Bank’s gross non-performing assets (NPA) declined to 1.46% in the December quarter. The bank’s NPA in the same quarter a year ago was 1.58%. At the same time, the net NPA of the bank has also come down to 0.35%, which was 0.36% a year ago.

Axis Bank shares fell 6.71% in one year

Ahead of the quarterly results, Axis Bank shares closed at Rs 1,044 with a gain of 1.68% on Thursday (January 16). The company’s shares have fallen 9.29% in the last one month. At the same time, this stock has fallen 2.59% so far this year and 6.71% in one year.

Axis Bank opened 130 new branches in December quarter

Axis Bank has opened 130 new branches in the December quarter. Now the domestic branches of the bank have increased to 5,706 and business correspondent banking outlets to 202. As of December 31, 2024, the number of ATMs of Axis Bank was 14,476.

Amount not returned becomes NPA

If the loan or advance given by the bank is not returned on time, the bank declares that amount as NPA or non-performing asset. Generally, if returns are not received for 90 days, the bank puts the loan or advance amount in the NPA list.

The results of companies come in two parts – standalone and consolidated. Standalone shows the financial performance of only one unit. Whereas, in the consolidated financial report, the entire company is reported.
