Banks in India are open on Saturday April 4 as it is the first Saturday.

Are Banks open or closed today on Saturday?
There is some confusion among people about whether banks are open on Saturday, April 4. Many assume banks remain shut on all Saturdays, but that is not the case. As per guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India, banks are closed only on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.
Since April 4 falls on the first Saturday, banks are open and functioning as usual across the country. Regular banking services, including branch operations, will be available to customers.
Online services remain available
Even on days when bank branches are closed, customers can continue to access essential banking services through digital platforms. Internet banking, mobile banking apps, ATMs, and UPI services remain fully operational, allowing users to transfer money, pay bills, and carry out routine transactions without visiting a branch. This has helped reduce dependency on physical banking, especially during weekends and holidays.
Long-standing demand for a 5-day work week
Banking unions have been demanding a five-day work week for several years, similar to many other sectors. Employee bodies have urged the government and the Reserve Bank of India to implement a uniform Monday-to-Friday working schedule, citing work-life balance and increasing workload. While discussions have taken place from time to time, no final decision has been implemented yet, and the current system of working on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays continues.
