Airlines Issue Advisories On Flight Disruptions As Dense Fog Reduces Visibility In Delhi-NCR

Dense fog in northern India disrupted flights at Delhi’s IGI Airport, prompting CAT III operations and advisories from Delhi International Airport Limited and other airlines.

Airlines issued passenger advisories on Friday as dense fog enveloped large parts of northern India, disrupting flight operations and leading to delays and rescheduling at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.

Dense fog impacted flight operations at the IGI Airport, prompting authorities to implement CAT III operations, which may lead to delays and disruptions.

In a passenger advisory, Delhi International Airport Limited said on-ground teams are working in close coordination with all stakeholders to assist travellers across terminals, while passengers have been advised to check real-time flight updates with their respective airlines.

In its advisory, IndiGo said fog-related disruptions are a seasonal occurrence during winter and that flight movements are being managed to ensure safe and orderly operations. Passengers travelling during early hours have been cautioned that they may experience delays or revised departure timings.

The airline advised customers to check the latest flight status before leaving for the airport and plan their travel accordingly. IndiGo also said its teams are actively monitoring weather conditions and coordinating closely with air traffic control authorities to manage operations efficiently.

“Early morning fog in Delhi and across parts of northern India is affecting visibility and impacting flight operations. We seek your understanding, as this is a seasonal occurrence, and flight movements are being managed accordingly to ensure safe and orderly operations. Customers travelling in the early hours may experience delays or revised timings. We recommend checking the latest flight status prior to leaving for the airport.” it said.

“Wherever possible, operational adjustments are being made to minimise inconvenience and ensure customer support remains available across all key touchpoints,” the airline said, adding that passengers will be kept informed as conditions improve and normal operations resume.

The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded at 387 at 6 am on Friday morning, remaining in the ‘very poor’ category and signalling no respite from the ongoing pollution spell.
