Air India’s CEO Campbell Wilson said in an annual meeting of IATA (International Air Transport Association) on Sunday that by the end of this financial year, the company will upgrade its 68% wide body fleet. The company aims to fulfill the upgrade of the entire fleet by 2027.

Air India currently has a total of 191 aircraft, including 64 widebodies and 127 Narobody planes.

According to the report by Reuters, Air India is interacting to buy about 200 new single-nyesal (Naro Body) aircraft from Airbus and Boeing. AI has already ordered 470 aircraft in 2023. In addition, last year 100 Airbus aircraft were ordered. However, most of these were single-oil aircraft. The new deal will be for wide body aircraft.

Airline has ordered 470 aircraft for ₹ 6 lakh crore

Air India ordered 470 aircraft to Airbus and Boeing two years ago. According to CEO Campbell Wilson of Air India, the value of this deal is $ 70 billion (about ₹ 6 lakh crore). Under the deal, Air India will get 250 aircraft from Airbus and 220 from Boeing.

The 40 wide body A350 aircraft, 210 Narobody single-Aijal A320 Neos Aircraft were to be received under the deal with Airbus. At the same time, there is $ 34 billion (about ₹ 2.9 lakh crore) from Boeing. Under this, Air India will get 190 B737 Max aircraft, 20 B787 aircraft and 10 B777X aircraft.
