As many as 10 people died and at least 30 were injured after a truck plowed into a crowd on the New Year’s Day in New Orleans.

US President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday described the New Orleans terror attack as an “act of pure evil” and said that the crime rate in the United States has risen to an all-time high.
This comes after 10 people were killed while at least 30 others were injured as a truck driver rammed into a crowd at Canal and Bourbon Street in the southern US city.

Reacting sharply to the incident, which is being probed by the FBI as an “act of terror” after initial denial, Trump said that the “criminals coming in are “far worse than the criminals we have” in the US, apparently hinting that the driver may be an illegal immigrant.
“When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
He extended condolences to the families of the victims of the attack and said that his incoming administration would support the city to recover from “this act of pure evil”.
“The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before. Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!” Trump wrote.
