Speaking on Saturday at the Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2025 held in New Delhi, Jaishankar said that India is taking decisions keeping in mind the interests of farmers and small producers.
On the purchase of Russian oil, he said that India will take decisions only in view of its national interest. On the allegation of selling Russian oil at a high price, he said that if a country has a problem in buying oil from India, then he should not buy it. India is not forcing any country to this.

Jaishankar said- does not accept mediation about Pakistan
On the issue of Indo-Pak struggle, Jaishankar said that we do not accept arbitration in our relations with Pakistan.
He said- It comes to opposition to arbitration, so we are very clear. In fact, Trump has claimed to have a ceasefire several times regarding the Indo-Pak struggle in May. However, India has always been rejecting it.
Trump’s foreign policy is different from other presidents
Talking on Trump, Jaishankar said that till now there was no President who has run foreign policy as Trump is running.
Jaishankar called it a big change which is not limited to India only. He said that President Trump’s way of treating the world, even the way of treating his country, is very different in a conservative way.
Trump’s trade advisor accused India of profiteering
Earlier, Trump’s Trade Advisor Peter Navarro accused India of profiteering by purchasing oil from Russia.
Navaro, while talking to the media on Thursday, said that India is buying crude oil from Russia at a cheap price, Indian companies are refining it and selling it in the world at an expensive price. He said that Russia is getting money for Ukraine war, while India is earning profits.
He said that India sells us goods and buy Russian oil from the money from it, which makes oil companies earn a lot of money. Therefore it is necessary to put tariffs on India.
However, he also said that the path of peace of Russia-Ukraine war goes through India.

Extra 25% tariff on India by buying Russian oil
Trump has imposed an additional 25% tariff on India due to purchasing Russian oil, which will be implemented from 27 August.
Earlier, Trump has imposed 25% tariffs on India in July, so that in the coming days, 50% tariff will have to be given in the US on import of Indian goods.
India is the second largest buyer of Russian oil
India is the largest buyer of Russian oil after China. Before the Ukraine War, India used to import only 0.2% (68 thousand barrels per day) from Russia. By May 2023 it increased to 45% (2 million barrels per day), while India is buying 17.8 lakh barrels of oil from Russia every day from January to July in 2025.
For the last two years, India has been buying more than $ 130 billion (Rs 11.33 lakh crore) every year.
