Roof Collapse at Dargah Sharif Patte Shah Near Humayun’s Tomb: 6 Killed, Multiple Rescued, Search Operations Ongoing

Six people were killed after a portion of the roof at Dargah Sharif Patte Shah, located near Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, collapsed on Friday.

“The incident occurred at Humayun Compound, near the Dargah, in a two-room dwelling unit. Injured have been admitted to the hospital. According to information received from the hospital, six people have died,” IANS quoted DM Sarvan Kumar as saying.

Unverified reports suggest that 15 to 20 people, including the imam, were inside the building when the nearly 25- to 30-year-old structure gave way.

Police confirmed that 11 people have been rescued so far and taken to a nearby hospital, while search operations are still underway, ANI reported.

NDRF personnel, along with Police and Fire Department teams, are on-site conducting searches and clearing debris to locate any remaining trapped persons.

Joint Commissioner of Police, South Range, Sanjay Kumar Jain, told reporters that the incident occurred when people visiting the dargah for Friday prayers had taken shelter inside due to the rain.
